The Sherwood Rangers are now looking forward to an even more challenging task, the Squadron at the moment is preparing to change Regiment and role. From the 1st July 1999 the Squadron will be leaving The Queens Own Yeomanry Regiment and becoming part of the Royal Yeomanry Regiment. After surviving the SDR (Strategic Defence Review), the Squadron is now eagerly awaiting its new role which is to train personnel for battle replacement crews on the new Challenger 2 MBT (Main Battle Tank), in support of the Royal Armoured Corp. This new MBT is undoubtably the newest and best, its potency and state of the art systems were proven during the Gulf War. The Sherwood Rangers are once again in the forefront ready to assist the Regular Forces and look forward to taking part in this new and exciting role
